History of Velayat University

Velayat University began its journey in 1993 (1372 Iranian calendar) as the "Teacher Training College," affiliated with Sistan and Baluchestan University. Initially, it offered programs in Persian Language and Literature Teaching, English Language and Literature Teaching, and Mathematics Teaching.

In 2001 (1380 Iranian calendar), it was transformed into Iranشهر Higher Education Center. Following this, in 2007 (1386 Iranian calendar), the Supreme Council of Higher Education approved its separation from Sistan and Baluchestan University and its upgrade to the Iranشهر Higher Education Complex.

With the dedicated efforts of the government and the persistent follow-ups and planned actions of the university's president and administrators, in 2010 (1389 Iranian calendar), coinciding with the 32nd anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, the Supreme Council of Higher Education gave its final approval for the complex to be elevated to Velayat University.

Since 2008 (1387 Iranian calendar), the university has experienced significant growth in all areas. This is evidenced by:

  • An increase in the number of faculties from 1 to 5.
  • An expansion in academic programs from 7 to 29.
  • A surge in student population from 400 to 4,015.
  • A substantial growth in physical infrastructure from 5,000 square meters to 90,000 square meters.
  • An increase in faculty members from 15 to over 110.
  • The acquisition of appropriate hardware and software facilities.

All these factors attest to the comprehensive development of Velayat University.
