History and Introduction of the Electrical Engineering Department at Velayat University
The rapid growth of technology in the field of electrical engineering has made it one of the most influential and popular disciplines in today's industry and society. Electrical engineering broadly deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism within the realm of science and engineering. This field is considered one of the most extensive, up-to-date, and practical branches of technical and engineering sciences. It can be confidently stated that many of today's advancements in various sciences and technologies are indebted to the developments in this field. In addition to technological discussions, the theoretical foundations developed in various areas of electrical engineering (electronics, telecommunications, digital hardware and systems, power, and control) have paved the way for many scientific disciplines and specializations.
The Electrical Engineering Department at Velayat University began its educational and research activities in September 2011 by admitting undergraduate students in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Electronics. Currently, the department recruits students for a continuous bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (a five-year program) and determines their specialization during their studies. Furthermore, since September 2020, the department has begun admitting students for a master's degree with a specialization in Electronics, and the approval process is currently underway and nearing finalization.
The Electrical Engineering Department at Velayat University currently benefits from the educational and research services of 6 full-time faculty members, comprising 3 assistant professors in Electronics, 2 assistant professors in Telecommunications, and 1 assistant professor in Power. With approximately 500 active students, it is considered one of the significant centers for educational and research activities and for training skilled human resources for industries in the eastern part of the country.
The lab facilities of this group include the Electrical Circuits and Measurement Lab, Electronics Lab, Communication Circuits Lab, Pulse Techniques Lab, Microprocessor Lab, and Electrical Machines Lab. Relying on the experience of its skilled and capable faculty members in specialized fields of electrical engineering, and with the help of up-to-date knowledge and scientific research, this group has been training specialized and efficient personnel in the country and has taken valuable steps towards the country's scientific-research goals and the training of specialized and efficient human resources.
Graduate Studies
In 2022, the group obtained permission from the Ministry of Science's Development Office to admit students for Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Electronic Integrated Circuit Design and Mechatronics Engineering (an interdisciplinary field between Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering). The first student intake was for September 2022.
